BGSTR and HBO came to FX WRX to shoot live-action effects shots for the "Titans" season 4 trailer, featuring the character Brother Blood. Cinematographer and technical director Christopher Webb and his team designed and built a 100-gallon reflecting pool filled with stage blood. The pool was supported on a steel structure, with the performer lying beneath it. A custom-made gasket system allowed the performer to reach up through the bottom of the tank.
Chris operated the camera by hand on a jib arm, so that it could descend as the hand dramatically emerged from the blood. J&M Special Effects mixed custom-colored stage blood and provided a system of air pumps and valves to create bubbles rising up out of the liquid.
The team at BGSTR composited these live action FX shots and elements into their final edit, incorporating additional show footage and graphics.
